ASACP Featured Sponsors of the Month for February
LOS ANGELES (February 3, 2014) — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is delighted to name its Featured Sponsors of the Month for February, recognizing those diligent supporters that provide much needed assistance to ASACP, enabling it to carry out its ongoing mission.
According to ASACP Executive Director, Tim Henning, by “doing the right thing” keeping children out of and away from online adult entertainment and other age-inappropriate content, the association’s industry leading sponsors show their social responsibility and desire to excel.
Through its standardized Code of Ethics and market segment-specific Best Practices and the multiple award-winning Restricted To Adults (RTA) website Meta-labeling code, which helps to prevent minors from accessing age-restricted sites and mobile applications, ASACP offers all digital media marketers the advice and tools they need to keep kids and companies safer.
“ASACP’s Sponsor Recognition Program continues to honor the providers of adult-oriented content and services that have responsibly supported and enabled the association’s mission over the years,” Henning explains. “These industry leaders demonstrate that proactive self-regulation and corporate responsibility are effective at addressing the need for child protection without requiring onerous legislation or private party restrictions.”
For February, ASACP recognizes ATKingdom, Crak Media Network and Cam4 as its Featured Sponsors:
ATKingdom
An ASACP Title Sponsor whose sponsorship dates back to 2002, ATKingdom also supports the association through the efforts of company head Kim Nielsen, who sits on both ASACP’s Board of Directors, as well as on its adult industry-based Advisory Council, helping ASACP to remain relevant and abreast of those issues affecting today’s adult digital media publishers.
The company’s flagship website, ATKingdom.com, employs RTA labeling and an ASACP-recommended warning page that does not contain explicit imagery, among other methods of protecting children or unwilling viewers from inadvertent exposure to adult themed materials.
According to the company, ATKingdom.com features weekly amateur porn photos of girls between 18 and 23 years of age. Because of the young appearance of many models at this age, it is extremely important for a company such as ATK to uphold the highest ethics and most stringent business practices, to avoid even the suggestion of underage performers being part of its program. By following ASACP’s Best Practices and Code of Ethics, ATK is ahead of the game — and reinforcing its industry leadership through its continued support of ASACP.
Crak Media Network
An ASACP Corporate Sponsor since 2013, Crakmedia Network is a rising star in the digital media realm, quickly making a name for itself due to its ethics and corporate responsibility.
According to the firm, the Quebec City based Crakmedia Network is a company specializing in multimedia and ecommerce, whose main areas of interest are contextual advertising and web development, focusing on traffic monetization and an online ad network generating more than 5 billion impressions monthly. With a team of 75 dedicated employees, Crakmedia says that it values solidarity and team spirit, and encourages creativity as well as innovation.
It is this team spirit that is a motivator for professional media organizations to come together in support of common causes, such as keeping children out of and away from adult materials — an endeavor that not only protects at-risk youth, but which also protects the businesses that do their part in this process — such as sponsoring ASACP and following its guidelines.
Cam4
Another recent ASACP Corporate Sponsor whose support extends back to 2013, Cam4 is on the frontline of online child protection, as it operates in the live webcam / video chat market, which has faced its share of problems with minors — not only attempting to access this fare, but through misrepresentation of their age, attempting to become paid performers. The global nature of this business (with varying documentation in different jurisdictions) and the physical separation between the company and its contractors, make it a daunting proposition to ensure that performers, let alone viewers, are of a legal age.
Because of these challenges, ASACP offers a stringent set of Best Practices tailored to the specific needs of live cam site operators, which Cam4 benefits from. Cam4 takes additional measures such as the use of the RTA label to block children from its site.
These steps also include a warning page overlay that notifies viewers that no CP is present on the site and that anyone posting or seeking underage material would be reported to authorities and that the company will aid in the prosecution of these users, sending a clear message that it will not tolerate children accessing or being displayed on the Cam4 site.
“This month’s Featured Sponsors operate in business segments ranging from premium content membership sites to online advertising networks and live webcam promoters, illustrating the diversity of organizations that sponsor ASACP and benefit from its services,” Henning added. “Without this ongoing commitment from our family of supporters, ASACP would not enjoy the successes it has achieved in keeping children safer as they live their daily digital lives.”
