ASACP Honors Its Featured Sponsors for January 2017
LOS ANGELES (January 3, 2017) — Kicking off the New Year, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is delighted to announce its first Featured Sponsors of 2017. Among the industry’s most celebrated and successful companies, ASACP’s Featured Sponsors offer inspiration for all, as examples of self-regulation, corporate responsibility, and ethical operation. “Honoring the association’s Featured Sponsors highlights those flagship firms that make a visible commitment to the cause of online child protection,” says ASACP’s Executive Director Tim Henning. “As a non-profit association, ASACP survives on the generosity of its sponsors, and it is only with this help that it succeeds in its mission of keeping children away from adult-oriented materials.” The financial and material support provided by its sponsors allows ASACP to continue its 20-year record of success, including the operation of its internationally recognized Child Exploitation Tipline, which has processed more than one million CP reports since its inception. The association also offers free educational tools, including market specific Best Practices and a Code of Ethics for businesses, app publishers, and website operators. ASACP’s popular Restricted To Adults (RTA) meta labeling system aids parents by helping prevent children’s access to billions of adult-oriented web pages and mobile apps — and is provided to all website and app publishers free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the association’s sponsors. For January, ASACP recognizes industry powerhouses Adult Webmaster Empire (AWE) and MindGeek as its latest Featured Sponsors, signifying their ongoing support of the association, and its gratitude for their continuing commitment to making the internet safer for children. Adult Webmaster Empire (AWE) A Platinum Sponsor supporting ASACP for nearly a decade, AWE, known for its LiveJasmin brand, unites millions of users from around the globe via its popular live webcam and chat platform. Because of the unique nature of live cam services, the company takes its responsibilities seriously by preventing children from accessing its site, while ensuring that its cam models are all of legal age. This process starts with the proactive use of an overlaid warning page that alerts visitors that age-restricted content is ahead. To ensure they meet the minimum age requirements for performers, individuals who register as live cam models on Jasmin.com or its associated sites are subject to a rigorous screening process, while AWE also implements extensive measures to constantly monitor its live content, as an additional proactive measure for protecting minors. According to AWE/Jasmin CEO Karoly Papp, it is important for the company to be associated with ASACP, and support its team’s mission of protecting children. “We have ourselves developed some strong regulations in order to verify the age of the users and to keep children out of adult oriented materials,” Papp explains, adding, “We have been involved in this association since 2008, and we will keep doing so.” MindGeek An ASACP “Hall of Fame” Platinum Sponsor exemplifying how today’s top-tier media companies are committed to the cause of online child protection, MindGeek’s generous support of the association shows how the protection of children in the digital age is a paramount concern for all involved. “Families, guardians and business leaders all share a responsibility in ensuring children are not exposed to inappropriate content online,” says MindGeek VP of Global Communications Catherine Dunn. “Everyone has a role to play, and we do our part by ensuring age verification tools are an integral part of MindGeek’s extensive portfolio of industry-leading websites as legally required, so that only those who should enjoy our sites are able to.” Through its continuing support for ASACP, MindGeek provides a worthy example for other companies to follow in the ongoing fight to protect their businesses by protecting children. “ASACP is uniquely qualified to tackle the overwhelming challenge that is protecting children online,” Dunn explains. “MindGeek is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor, and have supported the association in this cause for well over half a decade now.” January’s Featured Sponsors demonstrate how top-tier companies are showing proactive corporate leadership through their support of ASACP and its mission of keeping children out of and away from age-restricted media. “There is a worldwide battle brewing over overreaching age- and area-based internet restrictions, with consumers’ freedom of choice and merchants’ ability to profit hanging in the balance,” Henning explains. “The New Year is presenting new challenges, and now more than ever, ASACP needs your help in the fight to protect children — and the industry.” To learn how your company can make a real difference in the lives of at-risk youth, while helping to protect its business interests by protecting children, email tim@asacp.org.
