ASACP Named to 2008 Associations Advance America Honor Roll
NEWS STORY ASACP Named to Associations Advance America Honor Roll Organization honored for adult-website label.
LOS ANGELES - The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection has been named to the 2008 Associations Advance America Honor Roll for its "Restricted To Adults" website label. Only 15 programs were named to the honor roll, putting ASACP and RTA among some elite company," said Joan Irvine, executive director of the ASACP. "We are very honored to receive this award and grateful to everyone who has made this possible by choosing to label with RTA." The ASACP developed the RTA label to offer an internationally recognized label for sites containing adult content. The label, a string of "meta data" inserted into a website's code, is recognized by parental filtering software, preventing children from viewing age-inappropriate material. It was launched in November 2006 and now has more than 4 million link-ins. Now in its 18th year, the Associations Advance America Awards program recognizes projects in areas such as education, training and community service. "ASACP's program truly embodies the spirit of the Associations Advance America campaign," said Matthew D'Uva, chair of the Associations Advance America Committee. "It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase this activity as an example of the many contributions associations are making to advance American society." The Associations Advance America Honor Roll is sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives and the Center for Association Leadership in Washington, D.C. |
